This trim (also referred to as outside transition) is used to accommodate a change in pitch from one roof section to another when the lower section is steeper than the upper section.  The customer must provide the pitches of both sections in order to have the flashing made to the correct angle.  This flashing is attached before (under) the panels on the upper section.
